The president of the European Council, Donald Tusk, today rejected the proposal of the US president, Donald Trump, and the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, to readmit Russia in the G7.
“Let’s leave the G7 as it is now. The seven is a lucky number, at least in our culture, “said Tusk shortly before the start of the G7 Summit in Canada.
The president of the European Council predicted that this meeting “will be the most difficult in years” and accused Trump of wanting to “change the international order”.

The United States has condemned the inauguration by Vladimir Putin of a bridge linking the Crimea with Russia, estimating that it is an attempt to consolidate the “illegal takeover” of that territory by Moscow.

A Russian fighter jet crashed on Thursday in the Mediterranean Sea after having taken off from a base in Syria, causing the death of the two pilots, the Russian Ministry of Defense was quoted as saying by news agencies.
