North Korea is still open to a dialogue with the US (KCN North Korea said on Friday it was still willing to talk to the United States after US President Donald Trump canceled a summit between the two countries, a decision Pyongyang called ” extremely unfortunate. “
The sudden announcement of the cancellation of the meeting was unexpected for us and we can only find it extremely regrettable, “Kim Kye Gwan, North Korea’s first deputy foreign minister, said in a statement issued by the official KCNA news agency.
“We reiterate to the United States our willingness to sit face to face at any time and in any way to solve the problem,” Kim added.
President Donald Trump said Thursday that he was nullifying his June summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, citing “open hostility” by the North Korean regime and warning Pyongyang to avoid possible “irresponsible acts.”
In a letter to Kim, Trump announced that he would not attend the meeting scheduled for June 12 in Singapore, following what the White House called a “series of unfulfilled promises” by North Korea.
