At least 13 dead in suicide bombing in Libya electoral commission headquarters

At least 13 people have died and several have been wounded today, in a supposedly suicide attack perpetrated at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission in Tripoli, revealed to Efe medical sources.  

Previously, the spokesman of the commission, Jaled Omar, had reported that in the attack, which occurred early in the morning, killed at least 3 members of the team to prepare the next legislative and presidential elections and 4 security agents they guarded the building.

According to witnesses, the attack took place during an attempt to assault the building by an armed group, which unleashed a huge visible fire in the center of the city.

“The security guards who guarded the entrance initiated a shooting with the assailants that lasted several minutes. There was a strong explosion in the middle of the attack, “explained a witness who preferred not to be identified

So far no group has assumed the responsibility for the attack, the first of its kind that takes place in months in the Libyan capital and that occurs just two days after the international community supported the process promoted by the UN special envoy to Libya, Ghassem Saleme.
