An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 Richter is registered in the coastal province of Ecuador

An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 on the open Richter scale was recorded today in the Ecuadorian province of Guayas, in the coastal region of the country, with no reports of casualties or property damage so far.

According to preliminary information from the Geophysical Institute, the earthquake occurred at 08.35 local time (13.35 GMT) at 1.98 degrees south latitude and 80.03 degrees west longitude.

Shortly after the earthquake occurred, the Integrated Security System (ECU 911) indicated that no news had been recorded due to the earthquake.
